My attempt at a visual resume

I’m not designer, nor do I aspire to become one. However, I find myself drawn to alternative ways to communicate value, and I thought what better way than to start with myself.

My visual cv is by no means an exercise in trading “eye candy” for tangible examples of experience and knowledge gained. I’ve been following several discussions on the value of a visual resume, so I thought I’d give it a whirl.

These comments from a recent blog post spurred me to action:

85% [of people] are visually oriented, thus this is great!. but what percentage of HR guys are visual? that is the question.

Mike Harding — November 10, 2011 at 4:26 pm

Bob Feldtman: That IS THE question. We did a survey of HR Professionals inclusive of recruiters, business partners, and hiring managers as we built our product. 2% had a negative visceral reaction to the visual format, 86% said that they would accept the format BUT that they also would want a “standard resume” for support. A big concern was that their systems for accepting candidates were all text/document based and that this format would break their systems and processes.

Hiring managers were the interesting parties in the responses. Overwhelmingly, 91% said they preferred the visual, multi-dimensional approach to what they normally saw.

Take this for what it’s worth and of course your mileage may vary.

The Social Contact Center - RightNow User Summit 2011

From my presentation with Matthew Lees at the RightNow North America and Europe User Conferences.

Admittedly, Matthew’s portion is more robust and extends beyond the limited set of slides originally crafted to support RightNow Cloud Monitor capabilities.

Customer Experience Best Practices for Facebook

The first in a series of “portfolio” posts.

I spent about 3-hours interviewing John at our amazing Boulder, Colorado “collaboration studio” for this piece. I then edited the audio down to about 9-minutes before marrying a Prezi presentation to the narration.

The audio and visual is rough, but the message is spot-on.
